Crisis Response & Consultation Services
I offer crisis response and acute grief support services for companies and communities. I can often be available on short notice to come to your location and help you respond to community- or work-related crises and tragedies, including but not limited to the death of employees or beloved community members.
Effective grief leadership is important because the immediate steps taken by company and community leaders, managers, human resource and/or risk departments can determine whether employees quickly recover from the tragedy and resume work productivity, or whether they become caught up in their grief, disengaged at work, or otherwise unable to function.
Traumatic grief is a specialty area of practice that few licensed clinicians are trained in. I am well versed in various models of grief therapy and I am trained Columbia University's Prolonged Grief Treatment (PGT). I am also an Advanced provider of Compassionate Bereavement Provider®, an empirically validated model for treating traumatic grief. I am trained in crisis response, Psychological First Aid, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) in 2014 – both the "Assisting Individuals in Crisis" and "Group Crisis Intervention" programs – as well as NOVA Community Crisis Response.
Companies in the greater Houston have called on me to help them in dealing with the immediate aftermath of the death of an employee as well as other crisis situations. Some examples of my experience in helping organizations with crisis response and grief include:
-
Helping high school students and school staff cope with the aftermath of the mass shooting at the American Civic Association in Binghamton, NY, which took place on April 3, 2009 in close proximity to the high school.
-
Providing psychological first aid for hundreds of flood victims staying in a Red Cross shelter in Conroe, TX, after Hurricane Harvey in September 2017.
-
Providing crisis response services for a Houston oil field services company after the unexpected death of a beloved company leader.
-
Consulting with leadership and providing direct intervention services to employees for a large company in The Woodlands, TX, after the tragic death of a young employee.
-
Providing crisis response and support for communities, schools, and private groups in multiple states, in the aftermath of suicides and other untimely deaths.
-
Leading grief groups and providing direct grief counseling services for a nonprofit based in The Woodlands, TX.
With companies, my approach is to offer a calming and reassuring presence, to help stabilize the workplace community, and to help company leadership and managers develop a plan to best support employees during and after a crisis. I am a safe person that people can talk to confidentially, and my clinical skills can help identify which individuals are appropriate for, and may benefit from, being referred for additional services. I am also available to consult with your company about mental health in the workplace. I can help you develop preventative services or training programs, and I can provide psychoeducation for your staff on a number of mental health topics.

My fee for this work is generally $2400/day or $1200/half day, plus travel and accommodation expenses if outside the greater Houston area.
Please contact me at 607-237-3938 to discuss how I may be able to assist your company or community.
