Crisis Response & Consultation Services

I offer crisis response and grief counseling services for companies and I can often be available on short notice to come to your location and help you respond to work-related crises and tragedies, including but not limited to the death of an employee.

Effective grief leadership is important because the immediate steps taken by managers, leaders, and human resource departments can determine whether employees quickly recover from the tragedy and resume work productivity, or whether they become caught up in their grief and disengaged at work.

I am trained in crisis response and completed training in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) in 2014 – both the "Assisting Individuals in Crisis" and "Group Crisis Intervention" programs. Companies in the greater Houston are have called on me to help them in dealing with the immediate aftermath of the death of an employee as well as other crisis situations. Some examples of my experience in helping organizations with crisis response and grief include:

  • Helping high school students and school staff cope with the aftermath of the mass shooting at the American Civic Association in Binghamton, NY, which took place on April 3, 2009 in close proximity to the high school.

  • Providing psychological first aid for hundreds of flood victims staying in a Red Cross shelter in Conroe, TX, after Hurricane Harvey in September 2017.

  • Providing crisis response services for a Houston oil field services company after the unexpected death of a beloved company leader.

  • Consulting with leadership and providing direct intervention services to employees for a large company in The Woodlands, TX, after the tragic death of a young employee.

  • Leading grief groups and providing direct grief counseling services for a nonprofit based in The Woodlands, TX.

My approach is to offer a calming and reassuring presence, to help stabilize the workplace community, and to help company leadership and managers develop a plan to best support employees during and after a crisis. I am a safe person that people can talk to confidentially, and my clinical skills can help identify which individuals are appropriate for, and may benefit from, being referred for additional services.

I am also available to consult with your company about mental health in the workplace. I can help you develop preventative services or training programs, and I can provide psychoeducation for your staff on a number of mental health topics.
